The decor was designed by Andrea Palladio to replace what was destroyed in the 1574 fire; and the wood panelling of the walls and end tribute -together with the carved ceiling - are the work of Francesco Bell and Andrea da Faenza. The paintings set into the ceiling were commissioned from Paolo Veronese, who completed them between 1575 and 1578.
